Overview

Save big on gently used items like uniforms, clothing, household goods and more.

Save money with gently-used items

Stretch your budget with gently used items that cost less and allow your money to go further. Thrift shops are a great place to get temporary or permanent items if you’ve just moved, or are looking for seasonal items or an updated look.

Our selection includes baby and child items, clothing for all ages, housewares, accessories, books/media, sports gear, linens, toys/games, seasonal items, and more. Our shops include Navy and Marine Corps uniforms and accessories for eligible patrons.

We carefully inspect all donated items and only offer those of good quality. The selection of merchandise changes frequently, so make your nearest thrift shop one of your regular shopping destinations.

Our thrift shops are located on bases and are mostly (geographically) separate from our Society offices. Not all Society offices have a thrift shop. You do need a DOD/Contractor/military ID card to shop in our thrift shops.

Before you visit

It’s important to know certain aspects of the shops vary by location:

Merchandise

Some of our locations are uniform-only shops.

Hours

Thrift shop hours vary from site to site. There may be special shopping times for Active Duty service members and their families. To give our volunteers a break, some thrift shops close during the summer and over some major holidays.

Accepted Payment Methods for Purchases Include:

  • Cash
  • Electronic Payments (debit/credit, Apple pay, Google pay, Samsung pay) are an option at many sites. Check with your local thrift shop for payment options.
  • Personal checks may be an option at some sites. Check with your local thrift shop for payment options.

VOLUNTEER

Our thrift shops run smoothly thanks to volunteers who use and develop retail experience. Volunteers may display and organize merchandise, handle cash and sales, or manage a store. If you have a few hours a week to give, learn more about becoming a volunteer here.

Donate items to a thrift shop

Donated merchandise helps us offer low-cost, quality items. Generally, donated items are accepted during regular thrift shop store hours. Check with your local Society thrift shop for hours, donation drop-off location, and acceptable items. If you’d like a receipt for donated items, a shop volunteer can help you.

NMCRS thrift shops will not accept:

  • Used mattresses
  • Medications (prescription or over-the-counter)
